No idea where to put this

I need help with my ethernet cable. It seems my computer wont recognize it. I plugged it in, and nothing happens.(yes i did plug it into both the router and the computer) i have installed the drivers directly from the moba cd. anyone know what is wrong with this? Uninstall and reinstall the drivers to start.

Then go to the control panel->network connections and see if there is a listing for local area connection.

Goto network connections advanced and make sure your LAN port is enabled. Second, try a different cable. Third look in the port to see if any of the pins are bent, i had that happen to me once. Four, check to see if the lights flash when its plugged in. Five, re-boot your router, OR if you have access to it log on to it to see if the router picks it up. If none of this works, it could be that the port is broke, i've seen this a lot in fixing computers. Usually broken though a static shock or lightning in the area.

Is the LAN port onboard, i.e. a motherboard port. Is it enabled in the bios?.

The screenie indicates that it is not being detected, as there is no ethernet device listed (with or without driver).

Also make sure you plugged it into a LAN port and not a WAN port. Different usage, the wan port does not assign IP's.
