My boss has given me the task of buying a printer for our work and installing it. She didn't give me a budget and just wants one to get the job done, so I'm just gonna assume a budget of up to $200.

Is there any recommendations you guys would be able to give me? I'm very good with PC hardware, but don't deal with or know much about what printers are good.

I wish I could give me details as to what the printer needs to do, but I'm just gonna assume color printing, with the ability to scan would be nice. I also have had horrible experience with HP printers, or HP anything for that matter.

Buy a brother brand printer. They are great because they don't chip the ink cartridges and they allow you to use cheaper third party ink. Another benefit is that you don't have to install all the cartridges in order to print. You can just put the black cartridge in and leave the color slots empty and will allow you to print with out being prompted by that bogus "you may get print head damage please install all cartridges"
