I had a windows 7 image that I created last time I installed, stored on my secondary hard drive (not ssd). I did an install windows from image backup, it found the image on my D drive, and proceeded to run for 20 minutes or so. It then went to reboot, and now my computer gets stuck at the ACHI boot screen. I can't even get into the bios because the ACHI boot screen comes first.

Ok so I unplugged the SSD, changed the bios over to IDE, and when I plugged it back in it booted ok. Apparently reinstalling from a disk image that Windows 7 created installs the drive in IDE mode??? Maybe? I wonder if there is a way to install it in AHCI mode.

Is the D: drive an internal or external drive? If it is an internal drive you may consider putting it in an external enclosure and reinstalling. I'm not sure whether or not it will make a difference but it may be worth a shot. Someone please correct me if this is bad advice or it has no chance of working.
