So I recently built a brand new gaming computer with the assistance of a friend of mine. I am currently using his old parts since he caught the upgrade bug. The parts I got worked perfectly fine. He knows a considerable amount about computers, but I on the other hand am a complete rookie.

Now to get to the problem. I don't have much installed onto my SSD except for a few programs like Symantec endpoint protection, google chrome, league of legends and some wallpapers. Everything was fine until a little over a month ago my computer blue screen and memory dumped. I changed my SATA port to a different socket and the problem went away. Now my new problem is that I can't get windows updates (As in the search for the updates always fails), League files are corrupt and nothing I have done seems to work, google chrome crashes constantly. I have tried re-installing all of my current programs and the problem still remains. I checked my reliability history and it shows windows has failed. I don't know what to do since I have invested a large proportion of my money into this computer. I also don't have a windows backup.

Is there a way to pinpoint what exactly is causing the problem? (Keep in mind I don't know a whole lot about computers)

Is your OS also on the SSD or not ? Maybe AHCI isn't enabled, or maybe, your motherboard needs a bios update to be fully compatible with your hardware. Can't your friend help you ? You said he's pretty good so he could be able to solve the problem ... Those kind of odd hardware problems are hard to solve unless you have the computer in front of you.
