HI everyone,

One of my friend wants to sell his Asus nvidia GTX 660ti, He need urgent money now. And he found noone but me. But i already have zotac nvidia 9600GT installed on my system. He is telling me that there is nooo comparison between this two. The 66ti is always a better one. i dont have any idea about graphics cards. I dont even play games on my computer. My brother do. (but he plays only Need for speed hot pursuit 2010). And we also have a plan for buying a new system for him within a year.

buy that ASUS or not? if yes can you give me any suggestions how to check used card before buying ?

he wants to sell that asus at 240$. Belive me its really high for me. but i can buy it if its worth that price.

More about : buy 2nd hand gtx 660ti

First of all, as your friend said the 660ti is far better. But I don’t think you need that card. 660ti is a card for mid-level serious gamers. Only for HP 2010 a 660ti will be useless.
Also you have to think about the warranty, The warranty only applies to the original owner; the person who is selling it to you. Not to you . If the card should develop issues within the 3 year warranty period and you want to get it serviced, you will need to have the person who sold it to you.
And yes, a blow of 240$ is high for most peoples. You can buy a decent new card with that money. Like Sapphire 7870. Again, this will be useless. Save the money now and after 1 year when your brother will get a computer gift him a new card. :)

Well first I would really recommend just waiting to build a whole new system. Depending upon the parts you have in your current setup it may not even support a GTX660Ti and if it does I would purchase solely to use in your new build. With all this said it would be great to know how much the card has been used then you can really factor in a price to see how much it is actually worth used.

I would get it for 200 because you can find discount on that card for as low as $250. Do not pay $240 for it!

thanks, one more question, just out of curiosity, is the card that you mentioned is better than that 660ti?

A GeForce GTX 660 Ti is definitely a great card and far superior to a 9600GT and a new one would be worth around $240, but doesn't sound like something you need. $240 is pretty steep for that as used nVidia card (AMDs hold their value better because of bitcoin mining). I'd only do it if he was a really good friend you wanted to help out, but otherwise probably not a wise purchase.

It might be worth checking out how well Hot Pursuit performs on your system w/ the 9600GT though, I would imagine not everything is turned up if It's playable as I noticed a difference going from a GTX 275 to GTX 660 Ti in that game - but then, I was playing at 2560x1600 and most people don't have to push that many pixels.

The biggest problem you'll have to check is most off-the-shelf name brand machines don't come with power supplies capable of handling upgrades like a mid-high end video card.

A GTX 660ti and 7870's performance is pretty similar. but with bigger resolution, a 7870 can perform more smoothly.

Your brother can play HP with a 9600GT for another year. no need to buy any card now, and your system not going to support any of these cards. The cards will be bottelnecked.
