Best graphics card for around $50?

I know it's not much but this is a temporary card to hold me for awhile until I save up for a 7950.
Just anything that's better then a intel hd 4000. Need it to play skyrim at or around medium settings. I was looking at the GT 520 for $45

This is my build

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core $219.99
CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing $32.99
Motherboard MSI Z77A-G43 ATX LGA1155 $104.99
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $49.99
Storage Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM $66.99
Power Supply Rosewill 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V $129.99
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)
Case: coolermaster haf 912

Edit: just wondering does the CPU cooler come with thermal paste?

    Easily this 6570:

It will play any game out. Have fun!
  2. Almost all $50 are very very low end and okay cards start forming around $100

Based on the rosewill PSU and prices, I'll assume you're shopping at newegg.

this 6570 should be twice as good as a 520 or most of the other offerings in the low-end market

  3. save it, just play simple games for a while, lot's of good games, old games.

add that 50 to your stash to shorten your waiting period.
  4. Can the 6570 be OC?
And like I said this is temporary to play some game on lower settings until I buy a better gpu.

It can be oced but you wouldn't be getting that much of a performance boost
  6. Ok well the 6570 has better specs from what I can see.
Since its pci 2.1 does that mean it can go in the pcie 3.0 slot on my motherboard or the 2.0?
  7. Pcie is backwards compatible so it can go on both
  8. K last question don't think it's worth opening a new thread for it.
Does the CPU cooler come with thermal paste? I know it's a noob question but this is my first build and I have never heard of overclocking until this year so. Yeah... Any tips would be appreciated.

Yes it does come with thermal paste but you have to apply the thermal paste yourself
  10. Yeah I know I have to apply it myself just wasn't sure it came with it.
    Thanks!
  11. not sure if you've already done the stuff... but a great source for "simple" games is this:
    http://www.myabandonware.com/

By "simple" I mean ancient games that can run on anything using the DOS emulator (with some rare exceptions)
These games are from 1985-2002 and typically are 2D titles such as DOOM, Civilization 1, TESII Daggerfall, Full Throttle(Great game, a must play) and many many more like Oregon trail and wasteland!

I wish there was phone compatibility... oh well I'll just wait for Nvidia Grid! :D
