I just got a Club3d HD 7970 royalQueen card, and I'm wondering can I get a stable OC with AMD overdrive without voltage tweaking. The reviews on the internet says that they can O OC max with amd overdrive at 1125 MHz with stable result, but my AMD overdrive shows that I can OC up to 1200 core and 1600 memory. I've tried using MSI afterburner to reach that speed, but it became unstable without voltage tweaking. So if I use AMD overdrive without voltage tweaking, can I get a stable result ?

Overdrive maximum value is an upper limit of the O.C...

the actual u can get, will different at each card and u will need to find it by your own.....

and mostly if in afterburner is not stable, then most likely in Overdrive it will also not stable (without voltage tweaking)

It's a software which allows you to overclock as any other software would.

Overclocking is never safe, there is always a risk. Some cards can do high overclocking that remains stable while others even can't overclock a tiny bit without being unstable which result into shut downs, artifacts or possible a burned GPU, however the first thing mentioned is more likely than the last.

i have a question about my overclocking
currently I use 1125/1500, and when I play some games (dota 2), i can get a rare crash, but after I reconnected after the crash, my FPS will only be about 24-30 FPS. It's actually 100+ FPS before the crash.

Your overclock is unstable. And if the crash didn't restart Windows, then restart it, and pull back a bit on the OC.

i recommend not using amd overdrive. I hear people having more troubles with it. more then its worth. as was pointed out, oc is a risk. removing factors like, troublesome software, can only help.
