Hi,

I have an ASSU M5A97 - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97/#support_QVL and I had purchased some PNY 4 GB memory from Best Buy. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/PNY+-+Optima+4GB+PC3-10666+DDR3+DIMM+Desktop+Memory/2327496.p?id=1218532316525&skuId=2327496&st=2327496&cp=1&lp=1

I had 8GB total and then I wanted to get fancy and bump it to 16GB (This machine could use the extra memory for all of the video processing that's done with it.)

When I bought 2 more DIMM's of the same type, I noticed that I started getting some BSODs. I worked on it a bunch and even re-installed Windows 7. I then took out the two other sticks of RAM and things started to normalize.

It was at this point (hindsight is great!) that I read the manual and saw that this memory was not on the recommended list of RAM and probably explained why I was getting those errors.

So, I wanted to ask for suggestions on the best RAM that I can purchase that would work fine in that machine along with the price. I'll be glad to start off at 8GB this time and just leave well enough alone.

TIA

Thanks for replying. I'm planning on scrapping the current RAM all together. I wanted suggestions on what is the best bang for the buck that will work for this motherboard. The PNY ram will be gone and I won't be mixing it with any other brand. Thanks!

Thanks, I'll be following that from now on.
