So I've just put together a PC which only has a 120 gb SSD for storage due to budget. Im going to get a 500gb/1tb HDD soon but for now I'm just using a 1.5tb seagate external portable drive. Its plugged in all the time and I've installed a lot of my applications/games on it and all my music, etc, is on the drive. Are there any known problems with leaving the drive plugged in all the time/using it to install applications on?

Thanks in advance.

Solution
An external hard drive can be a bit slower as compared to a SATA/eSATA drive (USB-3 gets close), but there are no real issues using it all the time.

Yeah I've got it running through a nice long 3m usb 3.0 cable. But as long as there aren't any problems thats good, saves me rushing to go get an internal drive! Thanks for the help!
