I currently have a HP dc7900 sff desktop. It has 8GB of ram, TV tuner, DVD burner, quad core 2.66ghz CPU, and the low profile version of the sapphire Radeon HD 5450. The power supply is 240W with the following info:

240W max
model DPS-240MB-3A
part number 46074-001
input 100-240V 15A 50-60Hz
+3.3v 15A
+5.08V 17A
+12v 7.5A
-12v .15A
+5.08vAUX 3A
+12VCPU 11.5A

Oh, I also have a 3D vision ready monitor.

I was thinking of upgrading my card to either a GTX 650, or a Radeon HD 7750. Both of them come in low profile, I am aware that the 650 requires a 6 pin PCIe connector, but I have an adapter that will turn an extra SATA power cable into it. Eventually, I want to utilize the 3D on my monitor for whatever supports it, (OH YEA BABY 3D PORN!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL JUST KIDDING) but it is possible that I will get a new computer before I am ready for 3D. (About a 50/50 chance) My monitor doesn't support HD3D, so I have to use NVidias flavor of it. I have heard of people getting the 7750 to work with a psu similar to mine, but what about the 650? Currently I collect disability, so I only have a few hundred dollars a month that I can spend on stuff like this.

Any help is appreciated, and no, the PSU cant be replaced/upgraded do to the unique shape of it. If necessary, I can link a picture of it.

I'm pretty sure 240 watts is too low for either. Both require at least 400 watts. That psu doesn't look great, so I doubt it would work. 240 watts doesn't seem to be enough for any graphics card I know of to be honest. Bad luck that you can't swap it out.

the lowest Nvidia GPU's require 300W and the lowest AMD GPU's require 400W.

I am not sure I'd invest in this set up. It would seem that you might need a new psu and gpu and case.

A new cheap but functional case (to open up PSU selections) would run about $45, PSU about $50, and a gpu that would make use of your monitor would be around a 7850/650ti boost at around $170.

He said he couldn't replace the psu unfortunately. A complete overhaul might be in order.

Like I said, I know of people who have gotten the 7750 to work with a psu similar to mine, but I don't know about the 650, the 5450 I have in here now, has run flawlessly for the past year, I mostly play swtor and Rusty Hearts with it, and I only turn it off if I need to do work on the inside, or if I am on vacation.

Like I have said, I got my 5450 to run flawlessly on this system, and I know for a fact that the 7750 worked with a similar power supply to mine, it was also 240W. I run my system hard, and it has been like this for a year now, the guy who had the 7750, has been running it for about two months now, and hasn't had any problems.

Ok guys, here is an update to this topic, I found a case that will work for my needs, and found a board that will use my CPU, and memory. As for the OS, seeing as how my OS is OEM, I guess I will have to use that windows 8 update sooner than I planned on using it, no big deal, but I like to wait 18 to 24 months after a major OS release, before using it. The case comes with a 350w psu, I have heard that it is a crappy psu, so I am going to replace it. The only question is what kind can I use, if I was a dummy, I would assume that just because you can use an atx motherboard with this case it means you can use any old atx power supply with this case, but I am not a dummy, and I know what happens when you assume. Here are links to the case and mobo, any tips would be helpful, if I don't hear anything soon, I will repost this in a new topic. Keep in mind, I am going with a GTX 670 or higher now. I might even go for the titan, if my uncle can get me a hook up like he did for my cousin.
