Hi i just bought a new power supply because 3 days ago my computer crashed and wouldn't turn back on so i assumed a dead psu. So today i got my new power supply plugged everything in properly, after 15 minutes of the computer running fine it crashed. I tried powering it up again, and no lights were on, on the motherboard. I did the smell test on my psu and it didn't smell burnt.
Any ideas?

CPU overheating? If the fan on your heatsink (or however, your CPU stays cool) dies, then a CPU will overheat and to prevent damage your system shuts down. Admittedly, you should be able to turn it back on again until it overheats.

It could also just be a cheap power supply that cannot deliver listed wattage without shutting down. Raidmax isn't a premium brand, though I don't think its the worst out there either and your system should have plenty of ceiling.

Antec, Seasonic, Silverstone, and Corsair all have a good reputation across all their units. Admittedly, they also have a range of quality under their brand, but you can count on the units to deliver their listed wattage with sufficient protection. Find one with 80+ certification and you should be golden.

1000 watts is a complete waste of money unless you plan on running 3 high end cards. Get a good quality 550-600w power supply and you will be fine. Especially since a quality 1000w power supply is in the $200+ range. You want the best on the market? Get one of these.

M12 < G Series < X Series. Seasonic makes the best power supplies you can buy.
