Is this older card worth it? (4870)

I'm wondering if I should buy a Radeon 4870.. I do not play heavy gaming, I like to play simple games such as Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm or League of Legends. I was wondering if i should get a 7770 for $120 or buy the 4870 for only $40, but I read that it does NOT support DirectX 11. How long will this card still be usable without DX11 support because I am looking into getting Elder Scrolls Online. Thanks!

Also I only have a 430w PSU (I ran a 660ti Overclocked on the same PSU) so do you think I can get away with having this card or should I go for the 7770 for twice the price :(

Yeah I do live in the US and hmm I'm not sure if i can see myself spending more money on a lower performing card just because it is a little newer. I went through this phase of I MUST HAVE THE BEST CARD AND LATEST CARD crazyness and now that I think about it, it was stupid!!! I never even got to harness the power of my 660ti because I never cared for games that would actually make it a run for its money. And for $40 i honestly dont think i can go wrong with this card, even if it gets outdated

I have had 2 4870`s and they have been really good cards, they run a little hot tho. They only support up to DX10.1 but if your not to bothered about having the best then I would go for the 4870. I replaced my 4870 for a DX11 card and to be honest, your concentrating on what your doing in the games you don't really see the eye candy, not that its that much different from DX10 in my opinion.

Well, I would of thought so but it also depends on the rest of your rig, here are the recommended specs for League of Legends

•3 GHz processor
•2 GB of RAM (Windows Vista and 7 users should use 4 GB of RAM or more.)
•12 GB available hard disk space
•GeForce 8800 or equivalent video card (Dedicated GPU with 512MB+ Video Memory(VRAM))
•Support for DirectX v9.0c or better.
•Windows XP with the latest service pack installed, Windows Vista with the latest service pack installed, or Windows 7
•The latest update to .NET Framework from Microsoft

Hope this helps.

There are both, 1gig and 512, if you are going to change in September you may as well have the cheaper option, yes the 7770 may be twice as fast but its also 3x the money which you could put towards the new GPU in September but the end of the day, the choice is yours.

Thanks guys, as of now im looking for a $50 gtx 460 but its tough finding one! If i cant find one by Tuesday then I will go for the 4870. Also it is the 512mb VRAM version not the 1gb and I found someone selling a 7770 for only $80. I might just ask my parents to pitch in a few dollars towards the card and get the 7770
