My friend's GF is in need of a PC that can run League of Legends on max settings, 1080p, with 60fps. So far the parts I have picked out are listed here. The case she picked out herself:

Keep in mind that I can get the CPU and Mobo at microcenter for $190 + $95 respectively, totaling the build out to $596 before tax, shipping and mail-in rebates, but after instant rebates.

The PSU isn't selected because a friend might have a spare one that will work, but I'll have to check on that to make sure it's good enough.

I understand that the i5-3570k is overkill, but it's kind of hard to beat that deal. The 8GB of RAM is more of a quality of life thing.

7770 sadly cannot max league (without dips and bumps), a simple 650ti boost or 7790 can though

I was actually referring to the CPU side of things. If he has a Microcenter nearby, he can get the FX 6300 or i3 3225 for $119 with a $40 mobo bundle savings. Pair either with a $70 mobo and you're looking at $150 total for CPU and motherboard.

First of all, you're spending more on the CPU, than the GPU, which is a no-no in gaming. Get the FX6300 with that MOBO and it will cut down your costs by $40. The GPU will max league of legends no problem. The CPU I listed is only one tier below the i5 3570k, so you'll only lose performance by a little bit.

I've actually never used an AMD CPU, so I can't say I trust them entirely. I won't use a component in a friend's computer that I haven't used myself. Mostly paranoia, as I'm sure the AMD is fine, but it just doesn't feel right. If something went wrong with the chip, I'd feel really bad, even though it wouldn't be my fault at all. Since my friends and I have always used intel, if something went wrong with an intel chip, it'd be like, "hey, this is what we always used, so whatever, right?".

There is nothing to worry about the chip being faulty. If it is, just send it back under warranty. AMD has the best budget CPU's, and if you're going with bobs build, you'll barely max the game. Rarely is there ever a problem with the chip.
