Old Graphic Card in New Motherboard

Hi all, I am planning to upgrade my motherboard. The motherboard I am getting is Asus P8Z77-M with 1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 and 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black).

My current graphic card is Geforce 8600 GTS with PICe x 16 (I think, caused it fit in my existing motherboard Asus P5V-VM DH). Please advise if it is workable or I need to change my grapchic card as well.

Also, I will be using Windows 7 later on, is the existing graphic card okay as I see in their website only support Windows XP and Vista.

You sure can as long as it is PCI-E.

Sure weak for a Z77 based motherboard though :)
  2. PCI-E is backwards compatible, you will occur no problems. However adding a new GPU to such a nice MOBO wouldn't hurt. ;)
