problem after installing graphics card

hey pros , have just bought a new graphics card , its (gt 630 2gb ddr3) its from zotac , anyway , after installing it , it wasn't me ofc , I took the pc to shop to do that , so after that , I found that the screen flashes , when I came back to home
the screen isn't on 1440x900 also I cant change it to 1440x900 , I have tried the NVidia custom res , it gives me a black boarders , then , I found that my PSU 350w and I should buy a new 1 I think , in he games (max payne 3) just 2 mins and then the screen turns black , gives a smell like hell , I think its from my weak PSU , so guys plz help me with these problems ASAP plz guys , and tell me if I should but a new PSU or not , should it be 500w or 400w or what?
btw my native res is 1440x900 that I cant FIND IT in the whole pc , it was working fine be4 installing the graphics card ;(

1)Remove the gpu , plug monitor cable to mobo's onboard output

2)start pc - go to device manager - display - uninstall whichever drivers is

3)restart pc - put gpu back

if this doesnot work then get new psu

the gtx 630 has a TDP of 65W .. minimum recommended wattage is 300W, so i think you should be fine with a 350W PSU if its from a reputed company (corsair, seasonic, etc) and not a generic one, about the smell, if you are sure its the PSU, change it ASAP and go for a reputed manufacturer and at least 400W and about the black borders, what connectivity are you using?? HDMI usually causes black borders and is easily fixed from the nvidia CP

my graphics card has only dvi so I use a dvi to vga converter this means I use vga , anyway , im not sure if the smell from the PSU or not but I asked the person who plugged the card to my pc (cuz im kinda noob with this ) I know its easy but I don't wanna miss with anything , anyway he told me (while I was watching him installing the driver and a black screen comes for 2 secs and kinda black flash) he told me this might be from the PSU , I don't know also my motherboard is intel dg41bi its ok as far as I know , he told be4 installing the card , that there will be some problems cuz of the PSU , and if I bought gt 610 will the problem be fixed without buying a new PSU or it doesn't matter , help plz

test the GPU on a different system, if thats working, try with a different PSU on your machine, if that doesnt fix the problem, then the GPU is damaged and needs to be replaced

)) , but it stops for 0.5 sec , every min , and I hate this , im testing just cause 2 now , but I have GOT VGA and I cant change the resolution , is it from the VGA ? cuz it was working fine be4 installing the graphics card

the 0.5 secs stop could be because of a slow hard disk, this happened to me when i was playing BF3 single player, i switched to SSD and the problem is now fixed, about the resolution, i really dont know what the problem is, maybe you should read this and try their solution(s)
