I own a Dell XPS which has pre installed OEM Win 7 Home premium, I recently Upgraded to 256 gb SSD. I tried to reinstall OEM windows 7with the recovery disk on to my new SSD but windows installation doesn't start with an error " 465 Gb drive is needed to install windows". I tried to clone my drive partition to SSD but it wont boot up. Please through in some light if some one has solved the same issue

Thank You

Hi

you did not say which brand of SSD or the clone program

most SSD manufacturers provide a program to migrate from Hard disk to SSD
look on their web site (Often Acronis True Image)

The Windows 7 partition would be preceded by either a very small hidden boot partition or a Dell Recovery Partition or both, If you did not clone these you would expect problems
