Hello,
im fairly new with building pc's but not completely inept.
Firstly i bought a fairly decent pc for the price and have started to upgrade it just bought a 7850 and thinking of buying a new processor.
At the moment it is running on a i5 3.2ghz 650, i was wondering should i upgrade? or not i am thinking of purchasing a amd fx-8350.

Any comments will be helpful thankyou

What do you need your computer for? Gaming, video editing...?

I would recommend an i5 3570 but it would require you to get a motherboard with a Z77 socket. I reckon it's worth it though, I should think there would be performance issues with your current first gen i5.

Ok, then I would keep it :)
And if you want to upgrade in the future: For gaming, I would not go for an 8 core AMD, since most games don't take use of multiple cores / more than 2-4 cores.

I don't think that the i5 will hold back your GPU. But I can not confirm it, since I have never owned a setup like yours :-/
Does anybody here @Tomshardware knows if the CPU will hold back the GPU?

Btw: What kind of games do you play? And at what resolution?
