So I want to get a Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz because from what I've read it's supposed to be a great budget friendly processor.

But I'm not sure on what motherboard to get, I don't want to spend too much, preferably under $200 the lower the better. I'm only going to be using 2 GPU's max and 6GB/s SATA is a must have, not necessarily all ports as I will only be using a SSD for the OS and 1 other HDD for the game stores.

What are your thoughts?

Any Z77 board which has a bit of cooling on the VRM

There are plenty of choices on all price categories, so depending on what features you need, pick the one that best suits you. Performance wise, almost all are identical.

I to am looking for a board. I've considered the Asrock extreme 4, but the hardocp review of the board gives me pause.

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/02/06/asrock_z77_extreme4_lga_1155_motherboard_review/6#.UXFlocpyyUk

One of the first things that caught my eye about the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 was the wavy PCB and just how thin it was. When I put it on my top deck station for testing and put RAM modules into it I heard a crack and had one of those "uh oh" moments.

Any other ideas for sub $150 boards? Any reason why we should stay away from this board? Supposed to have a $55 savings if you buy a 3570K as well.

I too was looking at the ASUS P8Z77-V LK, some people stated they were having issues with it just not working after awhile, and that made me a bit nervous.

Well... Yes extreme 4 have thin PCB, but for that price youll meet good performance, BEST Features, and a perfect value, for durability let extreme 4 owner say bout that

but this is the best bang for your buck for z77 i guest, if you want good durability and high result for OC:

I'm also trying to talk my self out of the GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H. But with that one we are starting to get into the price range where I don't want to buy. It seemed to be the cheapest of the quality dual nic boards.

Legitreviews seems to think the audio is ok.

http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1882/14/

Each of the boards received an overall general performance score of Good per Rightmark Audio Analyzer. There isn't much variation between the motherboards but there is some. The GIGABYTE Z77X-UD5H does look to have the best ratings across the series of scores, though.

Edit: Oops. Wrong board. To many newegg tabs open right now...

I'm considering it. I"m still looking over the weekend and will buy on Monday. I hope the OP is still around. I don't mean to hijack his thread, but point out options seeing as we are looking for the same thing. Anyone, by all means post boards.

Is the Asrock 4 board really ok? It would be great if I could get a good board and CPU for <$300. That Hardocp review kinda scares me though.

I know its popular. But just because something is popular doesn't mean its a good idea. I can see a thin PCB having issues with a heavy heatsink. And I don't want to force myself into using an AIO water cooler because a board with a thin PCB. I like the features. Price is great. I just worry about longevity.

I'm still trying to talk myself out of that Gigabyte UD5H board. eSATA, Firewire, dual nics, tons of features. I can afford it. Just not sure its worth the extra $75 to get stuff I'd never use. For me, it will probably be the Asrock 4, or the UD5H or the UD4H. Just not sure yet.

I ended up just getting the ASUS P8Z77-V LK - it was cheap enough for me and with the i5-3570K bundle offer it seemed to be a no brainer, thanks everyone for your input!

I'm supposed to get it tomorrow so I'll try to post an update to see how the quality is.

I picked up the UD4H. The UD5H would have been great to use, but I couldn't justify spending so much more for things I've never use. I'd like to have firewire, dual NICs, etc. But I don't use firewire and a $20 plug in card IF my NIC dies makes more sense then spending $60 more then I'd need to.

I did spend the $20 more over the Asrock board because as far as I could tell the Asrock board only had 3 fan headers on it. My HAF XM is screaming for fans to be mounted so I wanted lots of headers. I also saw that the UD4H offers an USB ports that can charge your phone even if your computer is off. I use that feature now on my UD4P board.

I was looking at the V-LK as well. But if memory serves I ruled that one out due not not enough SATA ports. I have a lot of hdds and my case has two hot swap bays that will need SATA ports themselves. I really needed an 8 port board. At least. Congrats on your build. Mine should be here today. I won't get to build it until Sun. Stupid work...
