I have a dead Dell Inspiron 530 , which I'd like to bring back to life to operate as an HTPC. For now I just want it to run XBMC on Linux. I get my TV OTA, but right now I can't run the wire from my antenna to it. In about a year it will move to a location where I can do that, and maybe I will switch to MythTV.

I did actually have this thing recently booted with a $20 mobo and really old CPU, so I'm pretty sure that my memory (I have some DDR2 and some DDR3), optical drive, and power supply (unless this caused the CPU to die) should be OK for this project.

This mobo, CPU pair is $111 shipped from Newegg:

I am pretty sure they match up with each other (Ivy bridge, lg 1155), and the form factor is MicroATX, which definitely fits in my case.

Is this a reasonable pair? Am I missing anything that will cause this to just not work?

The GPU is on the CPU in this case, and it supports "Intel HD Graphics", which seems particularly unspecific. But, from Intel's specs it says it has the below features:

Graphics Specifications
Processor Graphics Intel® HD Graphics
Graphics Base Frequency 650 MHz
Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency 1.05 GHz
Intel® Quick Sync Video No
Intel® InTru™ 3D Technology No
Intel® Insider™ No
Intel® Wireless Display No
Intel® Clear Video HD Technology No
# of Displays Supported 3

I don't need "Intel Clear Video HD Technology" to offload 1080p playback, do I?

thanks for any advice.
