I'm building my first gaming PC, and i have some questiosn regarding AMDs Duel Graphics/Crossfiring an APU and GPU. Im going to use a AMD A8-5600K Trinity 3.6GHz with DirectX 11 Graphic AMD Radeon HD 7560D.
- What is the GPU equivalant to the APU?
- What combination of that and GPU would get me to medium to high graphics on games like Battlefield 3?
- Other thoughts?

Unfortunately, that assumption is more or less true. It doesn't scale that well and will give you more trouble than performance gain I believe. Might as well deactivate the integrated graphics and get a better card instead.

There are plenty of budget cards out there like the 7750, 7770, 7790, or 650-Ti, 650-Ti Boost, etc... If your budget is very limited, you could also look for second hand cards in your area, check on Kijiji, ebay, craigslist, etc... You can find great deals sometimes. You could look for a 6870 or 560, something like that.

My questions for you is why exactly do you want to combine the APU/GPU? Is it just for the novelty of it? You would get much better performance doing the standard gaming chip (like a Phenom II X4 BE 965) and a decent discreet graphics card...even a GTX650ti will get you medium to high graphics in BF3.

Im trying to save as much money as possible, and i figured setting up the Dual Graphics would increase performance.

But I agree with dalmvern, I don't see much benefit from combining APU/GPU.

If the purpose of this machine is for gaming, and I see that BF3 is a demanding game, why not getting a powerful CPU combined with a powerful GPU? Forget integrated graphics if you want performance.
