if you mean a upgrade will magically upconvert a pixalated mess into glorious 3d, no, if your running hdmi at the resolution your monitor/tv is set to, that's the best you will get from the tv you have. Now if you want 3d (you need 3d movies and a 3d ready tv/monitor) then yes a upgrade would be in order.

I watch Netflix, Amazon Prime and DVD's. I think I see everything possible in the media on those. I have a Blu-Ray drive, and am wondering if I am getting the full benefit of blu-ray, with this video card. However, after posting, I realized that my monitor only has DVI, so without an HDMI capable monitor, perhaps the video card is a mute issue.
(Or I could bring my TV into where my desktop is, and connect the TV to the computer to watch a blu-ray disk).

No, DVI supports HD just the same as HDMI, it doesnt however provide sound through the cable like HDMI
