First Build Need A Few Pointers

I currently own a FX4710-UB003A which has a dead mobo. I have updated its graphics card to a GeForce GTX 550 Ti and I would like to keep this card. I have found a case I like and it's a mid tower but ill take any suggestions I can get. I don't know what mobo to get or if I should upgrade the processor which is a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 Quad-Core. I have about 300$ to spend and would preferably want to get my parts from newegg. Also I would like to get a Asus mobo but if you have a better suggestion let me know.

So to sum it up I need suggestion for a new motherboard and processor. If you think my processor is okay then just a mobo suggestions will do.

(I would like to have this all ordered tonight or tomorrow)

ASUS makes great motherboards. I would get a new CPU to go with it, and you might need different RAM as well. So first question - do you have a preference for Intel/AMD, and what are the primary uses of the computer?

I was hoping it would come out to be a decent gaming computer I already have another 100-150$ set away to getting ddr3 ram which isn't included above. I do not have a preference as long as the motherboard can support my 550 ti.

That gives you a top-notch CPU, good motherboard, 8GB RAM (plenty for any game) and a good power supply for the high end of your budget....but you won't get a better gaming setup (there are faster CPU's - but you won't play games any faster).

I like the motherboard but this is def at the top of my budget is there possibly a cheaper CPU that is still pretty decent. I also have a 480watt psu that comes with my case so idk if that will do.

You probably won't need the PSU, which puts the total lower than budget. The CPU you selected is good...both should work well.
