I'm ordering these parts in a week(finally!) for gaming.... And please, this is for "1280x1024 ".....
Sooo -
I5 3570k
Asrock z77 extreme4
Hd 7790
Corsair tx650
Corsair xms 3 8gb 1600mhz

Total cost $530!
Please rate....

I think you are spending too much on cpu/mobo. You should go for a i3-3220/H77 mobo instead. You have a hdd/case/odd/etc. already? There is nothing wrong with what you picked, but if I was you I'd take that money saved and buy a better monitor.

yea i would get an i5 3350p, a cheaper mobo, and a better graphics card. (maybe the 660 gtx?)

Yes, I had thought of the i3, but it's locked multipler was an issue. No chance of overclocking.... I have a hdd, case, everything else.
Now the monitor, a higher resolution wouldn't make a difference if the screen wasn't far enough right? I play from 7-8 ft away, so my friends hd monitor and mine have no difference, almost.

9/10 beacuse of the VGA ... w/3570k i would get GTX 670 or 7870 XT

Higher resolution does make a difference on a computer monitor no matter the distance you sit from it. I can see a ton more on my 2560x1440 monitor vs my 1920x1080 monitor. Unlike a tv where the dpi is inreased with higher resolution, in game you will have a wider FOV.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236176 This looks pretty good for the price. ~$132 after rebate and shipping. 21.5" LED 1920x1080 ASUS. It will be a huge improvement for you. With the i3/H77 mobo and this monitor you will have a much better experience than with the i5/z77/old monitor.
