I didn't format my hard disk nor any problem with the hard disk and OS. I used to access the encrypted files but all of a sudden it failed to open those files. OS: Windows XP, SP3. Is there a way to access those files? Why it failed to open those files? Please help.

Do you have any more details? Was it full drive encryption or an encrypted folder? What program did you use to access the encrypted files?

Sometimes an encrypted volume header can become corrupted. If that is the case, you won't be able to decrypt the files unless the header is backed up somewhere.

I encrypted selected folders on the D: drive and not full drive encryption. I've the administrative privilege and there is no other account created on the computer. I tried to open only one of the folders with windows explorer and was not able to open the files. I can open the folder but can't open the files.
