This morning I started putting all my new toys together in my case, once I hadgotten everything finished I turned on my pc and everything was going great up until I looked at my screen and it was still blank. The mobo is a 990FXA-GD65

Processor- AMD Phenom 2 black edition x4-965

Graphics card- AMD Radeon 7870 (model name: GV-R7870C-2GD)

and I have 850 watt power supply.

I only have 1 memory stick in and Ive looked over everything to make sure i all plugged in, I dont beleive I have a built in spker to hear beeps either. all LED lights come onas well, ive tried to start it with just memory and my cpu but it only stays on for 4 seconds. Not sure what to do this is my first time putting all this together so not to tech savvy. oh nd there isnt an onboard graphics connection. so I have to use a graphics card

Reseat the CPU, sometimes an improper seating may not cover the CPU properly causing it to overheat. Stock fans/heatsinks use those dreadful white plastic arrow things that you must insert all four securely.

Some motherboards misbehave with only one ram stick, you need to acquire a pair of them. If the motherboard light is green (or amber) then one stick of ram is accepted, if it glows red then you will need a pair of ram.
