On ebay i offered someone £150 for both board and cpu, he came back and said £160 (£168 including postage) for both.

He claims that the CPU has never been overclocking, but the board has been running 2 540's (factory overclocked).

So is it a good deal?

PS: Should be noted that the cpu does not include a heatsink, but you can get decent heatsinks for fairly cheap, so that is not an issue.

I just asked him now, all I know about it, is that it has never been overclocked and that it has been used with 2 540's.

That's a very good deal, but the fact it doesn't come with the original heat-sink means he overclocked it possibly. If he does not have the original heat-sink, that means he has an after-market one, and overclocked quite possibly.

Also, you can't RMA the processor if it dies(you need original Intel heat-sink for an RMA I think too), or the board, and it's likely both been under a lot of wear already, not worth the risk IMHO.

There's a reason people sell old stuff on ebay, it's old and used now. I always sell old junk I have to people, and sometimes I feel bad about it.

It's not like I am purposely selling defective stuff, just used hardware that I know works fine. Sometimes I feel bad about it, but if they are willing to take the risk on a used component, not my fault if it breaks 6 months or a year later.
