This is **sorta-kinda** general performance

Gen3 has 2X the bandwidth of Gen2
Gen2 has 2X the bandwidth of Gen1
OR

PCIe Gen1 x16 (lanes) is roughly similar in bandwidtyh to PCIe Gen3 x4 (lanes)
