Hello All,

When I built my system on Pcpartpicker.com it said I would only need a 850w psu, but I wanted to get a little large psu for the headroom. So I have 2 questions:

1) What size UPS would I need if I was going to build a computer with a 1050w power supply?

2) Would I need a UPS, or would a really good surge protector be ok?

Thank you in advance.

You need a UPS only if you want your PC to stay powered on when there's a power outage. The UPS should be powerful enough for your system, but that will be much less than the sugested PSU. Will the monitor and other external devices be connected to the UPS? Most UPS manufacturer sites have a UPS selector to calculate your requirements (or suggest which UPS best meets the requirements).
