7870 xt or 7950???

Which is better for gaming? Want to play games like skyrim ultra with all the mods at 40+ fps. Could both of these do that? And other newer games at medium settings 40+ fps like crysis 3.

Is there that much of a differance between these two card? It's like a $60 differance price wise.

Both can hit ultra on skyrim with texture mods at probably 60 fps. The 7950 would be faster in most cases but not by much.

So I'd be paying like $60 extra for just a lil faster? It doesn't have anything better then that? Like maybe longer lasting parts? Anything?

Pretty much. No its not going to last longer. The 7950 just has 1 gb more ram... Though if you have the extra $$ go for a 7950 by Gigabyte/MSI because of their good cooling solutions but if you don't care for a cooler card go for a 7870xt since its just powercolor Sapphire cards hardly go on stock anymore.

Oh, I e heard that skyrim with mods uses alot of VRAM so wouldn't that extra 1gb be good?

Oh I'm at like 1600 x 1200??? Or somthing I don't know it's on a 19" HDTV with low resolutions for sure. Can't go above 1900x1200 or somthing like that

on a 19 inch extra VRAM really won't apply because you don't need that much VRAM. go with the 7870 xt.

I would go for the Sapphire 7950 OC edition, it has a bios switch on it which safely overclocks the card but also there is massive head room to manually overclock this card which will take it up to and beyond a standard 7970 card. Obviously there are risks with any overclocking but there is some software called Sapphire Trixx which is really easy to use, or you could use Afterburner also but just watch this video, I know its to the extreme but it will show you what the 7950 oc edition is potentially capable of.

Just to add, this card has excellent cooling also.

That card on new egg is over $400 that is way beyond my budget. Think ill stick with the 7870 xt

Yeah I can get the 7870 xt but I found a 7950 for $299 on newegg. Only $50 more then the xt and didn't know if it would be worth it

I am from the uk but for $50 more, its got to be worth it, as long as its the OC Edition but it all depends on the rest of your rig tbh.
