Hello all,

I have two Asus VW266 monitors. One died some time ago, and the other one looks to have just taken a turn for the worse. When I turn it on when it's connected to my computer it displays this and produces a noticeable hissing sound. http://i.imgur.com/C7VTT4q.jpg

When I disconnect it from my computer the screen goes mostly black, but has a few random flashing lines for a few moments before it goes into what I assume is no signal/standby mode. I've already tried other monitors, and they work fine. I'm fearing maybe the hissing is bad capacitors, but I'm not too knowledgeable with hardware. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks for any responses!

Ok, so I went ahead and recapped the monitor. Gone is what was shown in the first post (see image/description) but now when I turn on the monitor, it is almost totally black *except* I can faintly make out the ASUS logo and subsequent No signal found box when I turn it on. Googling this has said either the backlight or inverter is bad, except prior to the recap it was displaying that garbage and flashes at more than ample brightness.

Taking in to consideration it was displaying brightness fine, but garbled signal before, and now after the recap it displays almost no brightness BUT the ASUS logo/no signal boxes are NOT garbled anymore. What might this be? Just me unseating something accidentally? Something else?
