3D monitor for gaming and movies

Is it worth getting a 3d monitor for my HD7870? If so do I need to get a certain kind of monitor?
I am really not up to date on all this 3D tech.

you either need a HD3D capable Active monitor (eg Samsung S27A950D ) , or a Passive One (LG cinema 3d)
Just a note, if u want to run anything in 3d, it will take twice the power to run a game in 3d , as it has to render twice as much
