So just recently ive built myself a smaller gaming rig, ment mostly for lan parties.
so while overclocking the video card, i was checking the computers temps, and i was surprised to see that CPUID was reading my cpu temp a surprisingly cool 6C.

btw, i just wanted to mention i do have a aftermarket cooler on it, but its basicly just a beefed up heatsink with good airflow lol

anyways, is this normal? and if so, what would be consider'd high on this cpu temp wise.

It isn't 6C. Use core temps, HWMonitor or HWinfo (and etc.) to check your CPU temps. Sometimes AMD cpus act funny at idle, so put an load under it and see what it says.

FX chips read funny under 40c no matter what software you use. Once it's above 40c they are 97% accurate. Use prime95 to stress your CPU and if it stays under 62c your good.

AMD's bulldozer/piledriver architecture has had a number of temp monitoring issues... generally speaking you don't want your cpu temps over 60C... but with an unreliable sensor you're gonna have to find other ways to monitor it before you start to overclock.

Like I said they are not accurate under 40c, above they are just fine and can be trusted. I own an FX and have it clocked to 4.5 Ghz with 1.36v core max temps of 45c. Not to sound cocky but I do know a thing or 2 about FX chips.
