Hello.

A few months ago, I purchased the above PSU for my Gaming Rig. The PSU has been flawless for Gaming and just about everything else. About 2 days ago, I decided the PSU needed cleaning, as dust build-up was getting bad. So, I completely removed the PSU from my rig and cleaned it with a good branded Air Duster. The process taken about 10 minutes because the Dust was so bad. I managed to eliminate about 95% of the dust, the PSU was cleaned outside in my back garden, so plenty of good ventilation to help stop issues.

The PSU was rested for around 3 and a half hours before I reinstalled it to my rig. Once it was fitted and turned back on, everything was working but the PSU started making a rather annoying whine noise that wasn't a issue before cleaning?

Have I caused a fault when I cleaned it? Is it possible to fix without opening the PSU?

You probably just got some crud in the fan. Try giving it another good blast of air. Opening PSUs should be avoided if you don't want to void the warranty.

Worst case scenario, open it, replace the fan or... just turn the music up.

I don't know if you can WD40 them, but its worth a google.
