CPU OC causing freezing at startup?

just recently installed and SSD and over cocked my i5 3570K to 3.8Ghz, and as soon as windows had loaded it would freeze?
Removed the overclock and BAAAAAMMMM it works again... and ideas what could have caused this?

You should provide a complete list of the components in your system, including the PSU.

well, that is why we test when we OC, it means it is not stable yet

It could freeze because the PSU or the motherboard have an issue, etc. Could you remove the GPU to see if it resolves the issue?

How are you overclocking the CPU with a B75 chipset? Why a K CPU and a B75 instead of a Z77 chipset? There are several Z77 motherboards that are excellent for overclocking. They usually are significantly more expensive than a B75 motherboard (designed for business computers), but their VRM's are much better.

A SSD draws 3W at most, therefore that can't drain the PSU enough to cause the issue. I'd suspect the GPU more than the SSD.

Check the ssd firmware for updates. The latest seems to fix some of this problems.

someone else bought the MOBO and i bought the CPU.... -.-, multiplyer only goes the 38 though

, they were all fine before i added the SSD today

Did you boost the voltage when you OC'd ? Raise the TDP ?

You did do a complete "fresh install" of Windows on the SSD while the Hard Drive cable was disconnected right ?

i kept them all at auto, i only changed the multiplyer

Start Samsung Magician and click on the firmware entry in the menu on the left side. It tells you if there is an update.

i have restored BIOS settings and it has been running smoothly for about 10 minutes so im staying hopeful

B75 mobos can't raise the multiplier higher than the boost clock. You raising the multiplier to 38 does nothing, since the i5 3570K hits 3.8 GHz on its own when necessary.

Right.....but no idea what is causing the freezing? How do you update the BIOS?

Well there's your problem. Really should not use autovoltge when over clocking. Also how did you test your system once you over clocked it? What burn in software did you use?
