Hey guys,

Tonight I'll be holding a LAN party, just like I did some weeks ago.
But There is 1 issue i'd like to get solved:

I have this switch: Netgear FS608 v3
I can succesfully link all 7 computers in an offline LAN network with this device. (no internet/router involved)

Now what do I do if I want to get internet on each pc?
I tried inserting a ethernet cable directly from the router into the switch, but that doesn't seem to work.
I read something about Uplink ports, but my switch only has 8 LAN ports as far as I can see.

Is this even possible?

Thanks!!

Which port of the router are you using? Is it one of the LAN ports or are you hooking up the WAN por to your switch? You need to be hooking one of the LAN ports. Is there a lable or color on the port you are using on your router?

If you give use the make and model of your router we could be more detailed in our instructions.

Hmmm, I did exactly as you guys said (from one of the LAN ports of the router) + I tried to insert the internet cable straight from the wall into the switch, but I didn't appear to have internet.

I'll try this again next time now I know for sure I was doing it right.

Another mysterious thing is this:
When we are in a LAN, I can see the other guys' computers on the left hand side of a window under network.
But some of the guys can see only some (like 3 out of 7).
Something similar is hosting the game:
When I host a game of call of duty for example, everyone can join/see the game.
When someone else hosted thesame game, I couldn't see his game in the game browser, but the others could. etc etc.
