I finally got the system to boot up with the spec. shown. However, windows developed a tendancy to crash and freeze the screen. Then, I also installed another hard drive, Seagate 3TB in addition to the earlier 1
tb version in a spare drive bay. Now I cant boot up at all and it gets stuck on the boot up screen.

All the drives could be read by windows, SSD and the 1 and 3 TB HDDs. I thought I would be able to reinstall windows, but when it lists the drives, it will not allow windows to be added to any of the drives listed.

Do I have to take out all the HDDs reinstall and try adding the 2 HDDs again?

Also, someone advised to try Hiron's boot CD to look at potential hardware faults. Did not have much joy especially not knowing all the software listed. Is there a more user friendly hardware diagnostic software?

thanks for any advice on how to address the boot up problem.

It would help to know what all of your hardware is such as PSU mainboard make/model and such. It sounds like the boot order was changed when you added the other drive.

So go into your BIOS and make sure your SSD is the first boot drive. From there boot your Windows 7 DVD/USB stick which ever you have. Then delete all partitions from the SSD this should allow you to install Windows to it again. How ever that may not be required if it was just the boot order that was changed when you added the 3tb HDD. So as said I would check the BIOS and make sure the SSD is set as the boot drive then try and boot into Windows from there.

An update:
The SSD is the first drive booted at drive zero, so and the third 3tb drive went in at SATA port 3, optical drive SATA 4, and 1 TB drive at the last port. So it was the 3 TB drive that went in the middle of the SATA ports. But how do I remove the partitions of the SSD, especially as I cant get into windows now?

thanks for the advice.
