hi, i hope this is the right sub-forum to ask my question. I am planning on building my first computer (i used to buy from Dell), now, I've decided which CPU, hard drives, RAM to use but the problem is about whether a computer case and a power supply unit could match.

I've checked on the web there are just lots of different terms that make me a little bit confused, i don't know if the PSU will match the mainboard i am interested, and i don't know how to choose an appropriate case among lots of choices in the market.

My question is... what is itx, atx, and mAtx power supply ? what is itx , atx, mATX and sometimes uATX motherboard? I know that there are also different types and sizes of cases with different terms to describe them, standard case, mini case, micro case, itx case.... oh my god.

Local computer sales couldn't be trusted, it is my experience. I would like to know when i choose an case, PSU and motherboard, i want to know

I think i will pick Asus p8b75-m lx plus (motherboard), power unit i am interested is Antec Eco 400W or Corsair CX430. Case, I have no idea,

1. i'd like to know if the motherboard will match the power supply unit
2. i'd like to know which types of cases would fit my PSU and m/board nicely

thanks

there are a few different PSU specs out there, but for a desktop PC in a tower case all you need is an ATX PSU. The only consideration in choosing which one to go for (aside from brand) is the number and type of connectors it has. If you are going to add a dedicated graphics card make sure it has 2 x 6(8) pin power connectors.

Branding is very important, Corsair is one of the best brands, but as long as you avoid budget brands like q-tec, rosewill etc you will be fine.

Cases... you will often see mini / midi / full tower, but as long as the case you choose can house an ATX mobo you can really go wrong. Fans are an important consideration, lots of fans are nice - but cheaper budget brands often have very noisey fans.

Antec & Silverstone do a wide range of cases, and even the cheaper models will serve you well.

Where are you looking to buy the components from ?

motherboard (microATX/uATX) will woth with that power supply (had to dig up their FAQ to confirm their EPS 8 pin connector splits into 4+4). Any uATX/MicroATX or larger ATX or EATX case should work fine.

hello, i've decided to buy motherboard model Asus P8B75-M LX Plus, B75, MATX, LGA1155, 2*DDR3, Graphic by CPU and the power supply.. i am hesitating between Antec Eco 400w and Corsair CX430 (which one is better and does either of these two power supply support my motherboard?

By the way, somebody says that A-DATA might encounter more compatibility problem than the same type of RAM from Kingston. Is that true?

Thanks
