I decided to upgrade my oldest computer that had an AMD athlon 64 processor running windows 7. I switched to Intel with an i5-3570 in an Asus P8Z77-V. I wanted to try to get by without formatting the HD so I thought I could boot with the Windows 7 disc then reinstall windows on top of the existing installation.
My problem is that everytime I boot from the CD and it gathers it's info I get a windows boot manager error. The details are "an unexpected I/O error has occured." status: 0xc00000e9.
I tried different dvd drives, different sata cables, different sata ports. I pulled the HD and connected it to another computer so I could see if the files were accessible and they were. I thought the motherboard was bad so I replaced it and I am still having the same problem with the same error.
Can anyone tell me what they think the problem is?
