I'm currently running one gtx 670 on a 3770k at 4.3Ghz. I'm able to play GTA 4 heavily modded with settings on high and usually get about 45-60 fps. However, now that I'm running the game at 3840x2160 the frames are similar but the textue pop ins are bad. When I go back to 1080 they go away but aliasing comes back. The card is being utilized 99% always and everywhere.

Basically, will a second 670 help with the texture pop ins since i can turn down the resolution to avoid it? Would it also increase my fps in GTA IV and Borderlands 2?

I know SLI works on this game because it liked my 560s back in the day. I appreciate any help on the subject.

if your getting texture pop in your provably running out of vram and need more than a 2gb card, so an additional 670 would not help much as ram does not get added with the second card. get msi afterburner to check your vram useage, if it is even approaching the 2gb you have available then you really need a card with more vram. you can always turn down the draw distance to solve this problem.

If you have the money, then get the gtx titan or 7970 Ghz or 7990(unofficial or when it comes out) or wait for next-gen to upgrade.
Any of these gpu's should be good, your running out of vram so get either of these, the amd's have 3 gb GDDR5 and the Titan has 6 GB GDDR5. Dont get the 4 gb 600 series cards as they you will see a bottleneck because of the 256 bit bus. After using 2 gb vram, the 4 gb 670's and the 4 gb 680's become painfully slow and also, the gtx 690 doesnt actually have 4 gb of VRam. It has only a 2 gb buffer so dont get either.

+1 i agree.

I know the game works with SLI because my old GTX 560s ran the game very well too. However, I currently have a 4Gb Gigabyte GTX 670, and I have heard that the game doesn't like the 600 series in SLI, but is ok with the 500 series. Is this even possible? I thought that since the game taxed both of my 560s to 85-99% and the fact that if I turned down the resolution the game runs fine, It just needs more horsepower and SLI would work.

So, you successfully ran GTA IV at 60 fps? Was it modded at all?

Also downloaded HWiNFO64 to monitor everything, and my CPU is only being used about 27% while the 670 is about 99%. I just finished playing GTA IV and I got into a huge gunfight with rpg wielding attacking peds, cops, modded cars during the rain in time square area, and I was only getting a lousy 21 fps! So another 670 really wouldn't fix this? This makes me want to buy one and see, as there is no information about SLI when playing gta iv at 3840x2160.
