I am going to transfer an old hdd to my new computer that I built myself. My hdd is a 2-3 year old 320 gb seagate hardrive. Are there any risks in this?? Also I want to upgrade the windows xp on my old hdd to windows 7 would I need to uninstall windows xp and do a complete install of windows 7? There is nothing in my old hdd that would be of use for me

also what would happen if the old hdd had viruses on them? would they survive the install of windows 7. Could I reformat the hdd when it's in my computer and erase everything without the hdd infecting my system?
