I recently got a new hd 7950 gigabyte to replace my current hd 6850 and an antec psu. My computer works fine with the old graphics card and the new psu, but the computer refuses to boot when i put the 7950 in. The fans turn on, but the display doesnt work and the os doesnt boot. If it helps, i have an i7 2600 cpu @ 3.4 GHz and a pegatron 2ab5 motherboard. Thanks for any help!

Can you even see the boot screen for the bios?

With your old card in try uninstalling the graphics drivers. Then shut down and put in the new card. It should boot with a vga driver. Then instal the latest driver.

Do you have 4gb of RAM in the computer? AMD site says that is the min for the 7950.

No bios, no startup. There are 10gb of ram, more than enough. I installed the drivers for the 7950 without uninstalling the old drivers. that might be a problem.

If you do not have video out to the monitor before you even get into Windows then it is not a driver problem. That would one be true if the card was stopping after you get past the Post test and quit at some point during the Windows boot process. What PSU make/model do you have? It could very well be that your PSU does not have the amps to run the 7950.

Video is connected between the card and the monitor, and the psu is Antec EA-650 Green. Also, windows doesnt boot, and the bios doesnt show up. The fans turn on, the hard drive spins, but no software starts. That only happens on my newer card.
