Hello community, I am experiencing an issue with my computers sound. Yesterday I installed my first radeon card. I swapped my GeForce 550ti for a Radeon HD 7850. After the driver install and restart I lost all the sound from my PC. Now, I spent the better part of last night searching the web for a solution. I understand that it is trying to push my audio throught eh HDMI output, which i am not using, I am hooked up via the DVI. I have already gone into my device manager and disabled the radeon sound device and set the default back to my Realtek. I have also gone into my UEFI and enabled on-board audio. Yet i still am unable to get sound on my PC. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I figure worst case scenario, I will just go buy a cheap sound card.

did you look to see that it's actually uninstalled>

you should disable window auto updates and windows auto driver updates because they continually look for stuff to update......... like drivers for unneeded hardware.

disable the stuff, uninstall the driver. when the machine reboots do a driver update but select custom or advanced install and only install the graphics driver and the CCC id you want. nothing else.

what happens?

I am not using the HDMI outputs on the card. I'm using the DVI to my monitor and then i have a cheap, yet effective logitech speaker system hooked up to my on-board realtek HD audio. According to my computer, the device is working, but i hear nothing, not with these speaker, not with headphones, not even on the front jacks.

@swifty I believe i did that last night, my CCC no longer lists a sound option. It did last night.

is there a little speaker in the right hand corner of your screen? click on it.

control panel/sound. what is highlighted? and if you open it up and look at stuff and try and make things happen...........

do you have speakers integrated into your monitor? just to see if you have sound, any sound. hook up wire to monitor and to on-board if you do. then make sure they are enabled.

I just hooked it up to my TV via HDMI and switched sound back to the sound card, sound is still going through the HDMI output, so i do get sound through TV's, however, my monitor has no speakers, and uses DVI.
I've spent so long going through my audio devices, disabling, enabling, re-enabling. I'm fairly computer savvy and usually do my own work instead of taking it to a tech, but this one has me stumped haha, its quite frustrating actually.
