I'm actually hoping to do this (upgrade to the FX-8350) while it's still available, BUT! How much of an edge will I get over the Zambezi (FX-4170) CPU I'm running now? Rumor has it, newer games will take advantage of the extra cores?

I'm also putting in the EVGA GTX660 ti, replacing the GTX460 v2 I'm currently running.

As always, everything always boils down to $$$ available. Thoughts, opinions?

Thanking everyone in advance,

Max

I see the format has changed some here. Hope the HW profile still shows.

I would say do a better upgrade on your graphics card and wait. Dont get me wrong, I didnt wait and I got a 8350 and I think its great but I cant imagine you would see that much of a benefit over your setup now that it wouldnt be worth just waiting a little longer and spending a little more money on a better graphics card. I'm a novice so take what I say with a grain of salt but thats my two cents :)

I looked quickly, but couldn't find out if the "Steamroller" will fly in the mobo I have now. I'd hate to have to get, yet another board, being the one I have is only 6 months old, give or take. (ASUS Crosshair V Formula) I actually didn't see a whole lot about it, other than a speculated 15% improvement? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot.

Yeah, I think you've got a point there. The one thing that concerned me was, coming back to find it "discontinued!" on Newegg, which seems to haunt me! It's happened more than once. But, yes, I'm gonna beef up in the GPU department, see how that goes. The 460 is likely my BF3 whoa's. I can only imagine what BF4 would be like with this card! Thanks again, Max
