hello everyone , im new here
so heres my problem :

i recently got a new cpu , amd sempron le-1250

so , when i got a new cpu , i updated my bios so the new cpu will work ( i checked if the new cpu will work on my mobo , and it works)

when i inserted a new cpu and booted up my pc , i heard fan going for about 3 seconds and no beep sound , then the pc turns off .

then i put back my old cpu and everything works fine .

im pretty sure that the bios update is ok.

wtf is heppening ( SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH :)  )

my pc specs:

-amd athlon 64 LE-1600 (OLD) , amd sempron LE-1250 (NEW)
-ASUS M2N-X motherboard ( bios 1101 )
-3gb ram
-amd radeon hd 4650
windows 7

Why do you change the cpu anyway? The new one is not any faster.

The new one is the exact same as what you have but only has 512k of L2 cache instead of the 1m that the athlon64 has.

so since the sempron isn't working and otherwise they are exactly the same its pretty safe to assume it is dead.

Trust me: you have the wrong model number then. If it's a dual core it's not a sempron le-1250 and so it's probably not supported be you mobo. That's why it doesn't work.

That's a bios problem. This name is not coded in the cpu anywhere. The cpu identifies itself with a code that is translated by the bios. I assume that the Athlon II X2 240 is not officially supported by your brothers bios and the Sempron is the closest match it could find. The Athlon II X2 240 is not on the support list of your mobo, because it requires at least a Socket AM2+. That's why you can't get it to run.
