Internet connection problems!!

Hello, I have a WNA3100 wireless adapter and am trying to connect to my AT&T wireless router. My OS is XP.

I run the driver and connect to the Internet successfully for only 5 seconds, the longest was 10, then I lose my connection.
I know it isn't a lot of infor to go off of but if someone could help I would appreciate it.

Log on to your router. Using (with lan cable) download the ultility for your router model and discover (add) the wan3100 also check for router firmware update/upgrades.

If not i just wanted to know: does that mean I have to hard wire the router to my computer?
