Is recording PC Gameplay with a capture doable?

So I've always struggled with recording gameplay with my pc due to my not so great pc and the heavy fps loss that comes with it.
Just thinking capture card would be a better thing to do?

Ermmm...not any logic in that unless you have TWO systems to record with? Just use fraps etc

Thats the thing, Fraps has a far too heavy fps toll.

i have a capture card running my cctv

though unless the card has hardware on it to offload the work from the cpu dont think it will help you

it does have screen capture options but have never tried it for capturing gaming

gave me 10 minutes and i will see if it works

Thats interesting, It's a shame there isnt an easy way to capture

i have heard msi afterburner screen capture is a bit easier on your pc than fraps

though never tried it to see

also all my cctv capture goes to a second hard drive--i assume capturing to a second hard drive may also help
