I have an XPS 8300 with stock XPS case.
i7 3.4GHZ
8GB Of Ram
1TB
AMD 6450
460 PSU

I'm not sure what Graphics card to go with, I want to be able to play most games on high to ultra settings. I also want to keep my OEM PSU.

Here are some Graphics cards I've been looking at.

1) GV-N65TOC-1GI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card

2) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card

3) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Superclocked 2048MB GDDR5 PCIe 2.0 x16 Video Card

4) AMD Radeon HD 7790 1024MB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card

Thank you!

In order to play BF3 on high/ultra I would need to swap out my PSU and get a better graphics card? :( Do you know any cards you could recommend me to check out please.
The thing I'm afraid of doing is buying a graphics card that won't fit I'm the 8300 because its pretty tight inside. I went to microcenter with my 8300 and the guys weren't that helpful sadly.

Yes you would need a higher wattage PSU to support a more powerful card. A 660 gtx, 660gtx or a 7870 would be optimum choice for high/ultra settings. Check out this link on a review of a 660:

Now there is are a few important factors, this test was done in single player. Tom's only tested the game in single player because multiplayer results were/are very random based on map, # of players, ping etc. That being said, you can expect a noticeable frame drop on multiplayer. Also, during this test an older driver for AMD cards was used. Since then a newer driver was released that improved performance on AMD cards. So if you plan on playing BF3 all out, you can bet it's going to take a pretty powerful card to do so.

Now as I said in my previous post, it really depends on the resolution you want to play on. If you want to play on 800*600 res, you most likely be able to play ultra with a 650. But that's not a native resolution anymore, 1440*900. 1680*1050, and 1920*1080 are.

So you're looking at buying a 550-600w PSU and getting a $250 card. If you are worried about space, I suggest you use a tape measure.

I prematurely pulled the trigger on the 650 TI OC, i wish i would of seen your post barto before hand. It sucks being busy. Luckily i bought it from Microcenter theres a 30 day return policy for any item. I guess once i get some more money i will go ahead and get the 660 Ti if it drops in price or the AMD 7870 along with a 650 to 700 PSU. I have one more question, if you were to buy a 660 or 7870 what brand would you go with? i have seen gigabye, msi, sapphire, and diamond i'm just not sure who would be the better brand. The 650 i bought is a gigabyte i believe this card will fit my machine just fine because the GPU is exposed compared to other brands which have bulky cool casings.

Thank you once again for all the information you provided, it really has made this whole process a lot clearer.

When i first started my search for a new GPU i came across that video, i looked into possibly getting that card, but i didn't want to really spend money on an older gpu. The 660 is another possibility as well i will look into, the main thing that is holding me back currently is money and a standard psu lol.

Thank you!

The first link and the video provided so you can see (well you saw already video before) the dimensions of GPU.
Now regarding present times. When I purchased MSI 660 TwinFroz model, I was looking on 660TI as well, however the difference in performance between 660 and 660TI is so small that I would not spend $50-70 more to get 660TI.
Again 660 right now for me on BF3 is max out all settings.

P.S. Lucky you, living near Microcenter, I have one about 50 miles away, 2-3 hours drive at least due to the traffic, lucky you.
