I current have an Aspire G7700 specs however one of the Geforce 6800 GFX cards has died on it so I'm only running one at the moment.

I've seen some good offers on for a newer GeForce GTX 660 but it states the PCI interface is v3, my motherboard (Acer MC72XE) which is a custom flashed P7N Diamond, only supports Three PCI Express x16 slot s (including two PCI Express 2.0 with 5 Gb/s).

Acer Aspire G7700 specs here: here: http://panam.acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/Aspir...
P7N Motherboard specs here: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P7N-Diamond.html#/?div=Ba...

Firstly would the GTX 660 work with an older PCI 2.0 express slot and if so what sort of side affects would I see, would it run alot slower etc?

Or would I better off looking for a GFX card thats intended for PCI 2,0 slots?

Thanks for any help.

it will work fine

pci-e 3.0 card is backward compatible

and even the top end cards dont fully max out the pci-e 2.0 far as i am aware

be a while yet before pci-e 3.0 is actually usefull when it comes to graphics cards
