I just got a new monitor and wanted to use to driver provided by the Asus site to update it. However, the files aren't .inf or a welcomed .exe, their .cat security files.

So my question is, how the hell do I install these. I've tried all the normal stuff.

Here's a copy of the exact files if somebody wants to test. http://www.mediafire.com/?pla3l2od1g5lpi5

The thing is, you don't update your monitor, you update your graphic card drivers. The .cat is a file extension for a catalog file format used by Advanced Disk Catalog. CAT files are used for keeping track of data within a collection of media.

If you wish to open the .cat file here's a link:

Download MonitorInfoView v1.15 to create an inf file from your monitor. Save the file.

Windows will not install the driver because it is unsigned. To allow Windows 8 to install an unsigned driver do the following.

Windows 8, installing no signature driver solution
1. Windows Key + R
2. Enter shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00
3. Click the “OK” button
4. System will restart to “Choose an Option” screen
5. Select “Troubleshoot” from “Choose an Option” screen
6. Select “Advanced Options” from “Troubleshoot” screen
7. Select “Windows Startup Settings” from “Advanced Options” screen
8. Click “Restart” button
9. System will restart to “Advanced Boot Options” screen
10. Select “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement”
11. Once the system starts, install the drivers as you would on Windows 7

This worked ok for me but not sure what to do for other OS.

Hope this helps.
