BEST GRAPHICS CARD OF -Opinions/Help

I recently ran into a problem of choosing a graphics card.

It started when I choose the GTX 670 by Gigabyte. It was recommended I go for a AMD Radeon HD 7970 instead, due to its more power, and its 'Bang for its buck (the user stated '20% more power'). So from that I assumed it wasn't a bad idea as a graphics card, especially at its price point. So then I noticed the GTX 680! I had always imagined having one, but not for only +$70 more than the 7970. Then someone informed me the 680's performance is only a bit better than the 670. This confused me. The reason is simple. A review posted on tomshardware showed it was better than the 7970,but people have said the 670 is only %5 less powerful than the GTX 680. Now if you read back, the user said the 7970 was 20% more powerful than the GTX 670, but this review showed the GTX 680 is better than the 7970. Now hopefully you understand my confusion. If your confused by the end, I'm not surprised!

SUM UP OF ABOVE & QUESTION!

WHAT CARD IS BEST IN PEFRORMANCE! Not money, just for the best performance!

Much appreciated!

Okay so, I see how you are confused here and this is probably just the result of differentiating benchmarks. Over all it is like this:
670 is the worst of the bunch, but the cheapest. It can be overclocked to the same power as a stock 680.
680 is the tied best, and the most expensive. It can be overclocked quite well too, so it will still trump a 670 OC if it is OC.
The 7970 is the tied best, and is in the middle of the prices. It is amazingly good at overclocking. The 680 slightly beats it at stock, but when overclocked the 7970 beats the 680.

Considering the 7970 is about the same as a 680 and comes in 70 dollars cheaper, this is, in most situations, the best card. The 670 may be cheaper, but only by 30 dollars.
I am sorry if this is a bit hard to understand, it is a bit hard to explain.

Ahh, when you look at reviews on pretty much everything, look at the date the review was made. On release the 680 and 670 floored everything AMD had to offer, but recently AMD have taken back that ground and then some through driver updates and price drops. Also be aware that there are two 7970 versions out now, tha vanilla 7970 and the Ghz edition.

Also that's what happens when you get opinionated recommendations, it will vary person to person. Personally, would go for a 7970 over a 670/680 because it does perform better and overclocks like a beast. Plus free AAA games are always appreciated.

With the 670 and 680 being fairly close together in performance, that is true. Apart from some extra CUDA cores (which aren't helpful in games), the 680 is just a higher binned and clocked 670. Ignore the CUDA cores, and they are the exact same card.

For a relatively accurate breakdown of where each card is in relation to each other, look at these results that were made in the wake of the 12.11 Catalyst updates.

Nothing big has really happened since then in terms of driver updates, so they should be fairly good to make judgements from.

*Edit(oops) When the 680 was released the 680 was faster. Once AMD got the drivers fixed the 7970 overtook the 680 but not by 20% and that depends on the game they are relatively close but the 7970 is the best deal as its usually $80-100 cheaper. The review you are you looking at maybe from when the 7970 was released and is not using the new drivers.

The GTX Titan is the fastest single GPU.

The GTX 690 and AMD 7990 will likely be faster than Titan as they are basically two GTX 680's or AMD 7970's on a single card. However, in some situations SLI/Crossfire may not work and the cards will be slower than Titan.

So basically the 680 is only better as a Overclock version. Pretty much the same as 670. But 7790 when overclocked is Best?

Careful with the numbers, the 7790 is a card that bridges the low and mid range of cards. Your thinking of the 7990, which is the top of the high end.

In regards to the 7990's performance, we dont know. It hasnt released yet and the embargo hasnt lifted on it, so reviewers aren't allowed to publish what information they have on it. But from the looks of some aftermarket 7990's out there (designed by the manufacturers, not AMD) it will top the board in terms of graphical power. The AMD designed card also looks to deal with some of the issues of the aftermarket ones, including their bullish power consumption (500W or something ridiculous under load for example).
